Hello from the UK london

I've recently picked up a bengal kitten at 8weeks and currently nearly 4 months. He's name is tigger(boy). I purchased him without papers but the seller said it is a pure bengal! I was wondering if anyone can tell by the photos? Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Tigger is super handsome! Your baby definitely looks like a bengal. He may indeed be a purebred bengal, however, without papers on the parents, one will never know for certain. If you wanted a purebred bengal, I'm wondering why you did not insist on registration papers! Unless this was a backyard breeder, which I'm pretty certain of because they let you have him at 8 weeks, which is 4 weeks too soon. Regardless, he is a real cutie and I know how much you love him.

He's gorgeous.

Interesting. Unless it's just the light, it almost like a combination of brown spotted and snow spotted coat. Very unusual and unique.

Yes I purchase him from a couple who had 5 kittens, said they are pure but when I arrive to collect him the father wasn't there. £300 I paid. He is getting neuter next week? At 4 months the vet advised? Should I ?

Yes, 4 months is old enough for neutering. He is adorable, and I also think he looks pure Bengal!

Has anyone experienced problems like spraying once you start taking bengals out for walks or that doesn't happen?

Just don't want him to start that! And how long do they recover from neutering?

Quasar has never sprayed. He was neutered at 10 weeks of age.
The male neuter/castration has a recovery time of about the drive home from the vet's. They don't even seem to notice anything was done.

Having him neutered at 4 months is fine. Mine was neutered before 12 weeks. The spraying? Don't count on it never happening. Raiden sprays the bushes and trees on our walk. He has an enclosure and sprays in there, too. He was an outdoor cat for his first 6 years and I think it started as a territorial thing. Luckily, he does not spray inside the house.

The father probably wasn't at the breeder as he was a stud borrowed from another breeder. Regardless, purebred bengals can come with registration papers. The price you paid was a lot less than one would normally pay for a registered kitty! But, really, as long as you are crazy about him -- and there's no way not to, he's spectacular -- that's all that really matters in the long run. He's not planning on carrying on any future generations.

Does anyone know why Bengals always love to be on their back?

I know all cats do this but I noticed with Dexter that he did it all the time. Many of the photos I see on here too are of Bengals on their backs and I am sure it's particular to this breed but would love to know why they do it.

Why do bengals lie on their backs?.......to show off their beautiful tummies of course!!!

With the sucking the rug - Oscar does this to any fluffy woolly material. Its called wool sucking and meant to be harmless unless they are eating and ingesting the material. I think it gives them comfort and reminds them of feeding from their mother. I guess it's like thumb sucking in humans!

I have never had a cat that relaxed or slept on its back until Grace and Blondie. Blondie falls asleep in my arms on her back spread eagle. Grace does the same thing when she wants me to rub her belly.
