Hi All,
I hope I am doing this correctly!

Good afternoon! My husband and I just adopted a beautiful and sweet 3-year old spayed Bengal. We found her on a site called Rescue Me and a breeder was offering her for sale. We were told that she had possibly been mistreated at her former home and definitely would not accept other pets or small children in the home. As we had recently put our elder Maine Coon mix down, we were excited to have a new member in the family! We've recently had some issues with her (I will post on the appropriate board later) and are looking for help with a variety of topics --- since she is much, much different than any other cats I've had.

At any rate, I wanted to introduce ourselves and introduce our little girl. Her name is Khara.

Best,
Khara, Lisa and Tom

Hi Lisa and welcome to the forum! Bengals can be a challenge as you are finding out. They are nothing like Maine Coons or any other domestic cat, for that matter. Bless you for rescuing her. Feel free to post questions and we'll do our best to help you out. Just know there is an adjustment period when a new kitty arrives and patience is important. This is a huge change for Khara, especially if she's been mistreated in the past.

Finally getting a picture of our girl. It was taken by the breeder and I am pretty sure she wasn't into it but it's a nice picture of her, nonetheless. Enjoy!

She really is beautiful. I love marble coats and her colors are so pretty. Love the green eyes too!

Thanks for the remarks and responses! It just came to our attention that Khara has had a very challenging life so far. We're doing our best to help her thrive!

Now that you understand more of what she's gone through in the past, it will be easier to secure a great future for her with you.

Just went into the Rehoming section and saw Khara there. The breeder is a member of this forum! Everything was laid out on the line, wasn't it? Had no idea what all Khara has been through and all the trauma of not wanting to be around other animals. I hope she is settling in. I saw other pictures of her there and she is just stunning!

Yes! I see that Rachael (the person who originally picked her up after her mother killed/ate the majority of the litter) is on this forum, along with some pictures of our girl.

Khara is doing really well this week and we're hopeful that we can keep moving forward, slowly but surely!

Every day will bring some improvement. So happy that you are so patient with Khara. I think she will flourish with you.
