Hi Chantel and welcome to the forum. Hopefully, you can find a local breeder and visit their facilities and see how they treat their kitties. I'd definitely look for a smaller cattery that allows their cats to mingle with the family -- kids and other animals. Those kittens will be more socialized and used to people. Make sure the breeder is registered with TICA and ask to see the papers of the parents of the kitten. Many people put a deposit down on a cat sight unseen -- or maybe the queen is not even pregnant, so waiting for that bundle of joy can be agonizing since the wait is going to be 12 to 13 weeks after the kitten is born. Check out
http://www.simiasbengals.com as they are in Arlington, MA and are a small cattery and their kittens are raised in the house with the family. They don't seem to have very many litters, but you may catch them at a good time. But, I'd definitely check out at least three different breeders. You'll find one you're comfortable with.
