Hi everyone, my name is Amanda. I don't own a Bengal yet but hope to own one within the next 12 months. Took me almost 2 years or research to narrow it down to the Bengal. I'm hoping with this forum I can find the right breeder and the next member of my family.

Hi Amanda. Welcome to the forum. It's great that you're doing so much research because it's only going to help you in the long run. In choosing a bengal, you've selected a very unique breed with their very own set of wonderful quirks. Absolutely take your time in selecting your breeder. Let us know where you're located and maybe someone here can recommend one that is near you. We've read some pretty bad experiences on here and some absolutely wonderful experiences, so choosing the right breeder will make all the difference in the world. I would make sure the breeder socializes the kittens with their family members. This allows the kitten to bond with humans and get used to other scents. Many breeders will give the kittens the run of their home. Please keep us informed of your plans.

I live in Newfoundland but im willing to travel to meet the owner and talk to them one on one. Im willing to go across the country but if possible the closer the better, i am normally in Ontario at least once a year so if anyone knows of good breeders there im all ears.

Welcome! I wish I had found this forum before I got my rescue Bengal cat ~ but there was no time.
Researching and finding a breeder who has the kittens well integrated in their own family will make a big difference with the introduction process into yours. I did this twice with Burmese kittens and the introduction into my household was seamless. With a rescue cat it's quite a bit more challenging but patience and schedule is beginning to pay off after only a month. Preparing ahead of time with toys and scratching post is a good tip I wish I had time for. I actually had lots of toys and made a couple.... however our 8' pole wrapped in hemp (300' of hemp believe it or not) .is still work in progress. I'll post a picture when it's done.
