Welcome, congrats on picking up your new family member!

It's natural to worry about Luna, but personally, I believe you should to some extent leave her to venture outside her box in her own time.

One thing I would recommend, if you haven't already, is just place her in her litter tray, not too far from her bed if possible, and let her make her own way back to her bed, at least then she will know where those things are.

It'l take a few hours, but rushing her will only stress her most lilely, (my opinion) just be patient, she'll venture when she's ready and find her food/water/litter in her own time. She will have a lot of new smells to get used too, just from the house / her room.

Thanks guys for all your replies! I knew that she would be scared for the first little bit, I guess I was just hoping she would be a bit more adventurous. We put her in her litter box a few times and every time I went into the washroom she was hiding next to it. So she knows where it is, however hasn't used it yet. She also hasn't eaten. I knew to expect this however at what point should we be concerned? We have a vet appointment today at 5pm so hopefully she has gone by then. I did go into the washroom last night to find all of the hand towels pulled down from the rod so that must be a good sign that she was exploring. She woke us up crying a few times but for the most part we left her alone. My boyfriend is staying home from work with her today and most days I work from home so I hope she will get used to us quickly.

She's adorable, you've gotten great advice from Brian already. Let her go at her pace now and she'll open up in no time.

She's gorgeous! I'm sure she will settle down soon, just give her time. It's all a bit overwhelming for her at the moment but sounds like she is heading in the right direction.

Congratulations. She is spectacular! I know how anxious you are to pick her up and cuddle with her. Brian gives some of the BEST advice in this forum, so listen to what he says. Your little one is in a totally new environment -- new smells, new people. It's natural for her to be stressed out. Stress will affect her appetite and her using the litter box. She will come around .... you're doing all the right things for her right now. You should visit her in her safe room and just sit and talk to her. She has her safe room and once she gets acclimated, she will venture out more. She is going to add so much joy to your lives.

Thank you again for all the support! We left the bathroom door open for a bit and she came out and roamed the house a little bit today but mainly went from hiding place to hiding place. She took a nap in the curtains! Rob (the boyfriend) brought her to the vet tonight (just a check up as our health contract requires) and everything went well. The vet gave us Feliway so we are giving that a shot. She did eat about a tablespoon of wet food tonight so I'm glad she will get a bit of hydration from that (I can't tell if she's drank any water).

Thank you again for all of the great advice everyone! Hopefully soon I can post some pictures of her :)

Sounds like good progress! If it's any comparison, just two weeks ago when we picked up our four boys, Vega, was running around from place to place, always somewhere secluded, hankering down. Under the sofa, behind the curtains, in the chubby hole in the cat tree, in a box on its side. It didn't matter, he was always happy to sit back and watch his brothers while hiding away. And he had company. He would play, but only when he was ready, but the first few days he was very much in his own shell, gradually working up his confidence. All you need is time and patience, luna will find her way I'm sure. :)
