Hello my Bengal Simba was involved in a RTA on Sunday. He has his jaw wired . I am having problems with getting him to eat . At the minute we are using a syringe filled with a mixture of kitty milk and sardines but this is quite stressful . Simba has always been quite slim so can't afford to loose too much weight . Any advice please ?

Aww bless him, poor boy. I would speak to the vet about getting some higher protein food - perhaps one of the Hills vet formulas - to be mashed up into a little water and syringed. Just sardines over a period will not be sufficient to maintain any weight.

Either way you need to talk to the vet.

One easy thing you can try at home though is to heat the food, just really slightly. Like 15-20s in the microwave or so, not enough to make it "hot" but just to bring out the smell more.
