So I picked up this kitten, the mom had Tica papers but as I really don't care either way I didn't ask to see them or get papers for mine.

It is the cutest little thing :D But by little.. I mean I'm kind of worried about how little it is; it was the runt of the litter and the only one left. I have a feral kitten that I got at about 6 weeks who is the most loving thing, and at the moment is around 12 weeks. The Bengal is supposedly going to be 8 weeks tomorrow.

So, here are pictures of both (Should be pretty obvious which is which ;o) and I'd love to know your opinions on whether my little bengal bud is healthy or not! I'm going to the vets tomorrow for the first round of shots for both of them. They are both really hyper and loving, they sleep at least half of the day, and seem to have solid poopz.

Thanks for any help! :D

The kitties are beautiful, the bengal is way too young to be taken from its mom. You never stated whether the bengal is a male or female. You said you were taking both cats to the vet. I hope the vet informed you that the bengal should not be away from his mother this early.

There are couple of issues here. If the mother had TICA papers, and you did not get papers for your kitten, then the father was probably not TICA registered OR the litter of kittens was not registered and this person you got the bengal from is a backyard breeder. If you have a purebred kitten with TICA registered parents, then the litter gets registered with TICA and your kitten can be registered as an individual cat.

Second ... no responsible breeder would permit a kitten to leave them at 8 weeks. Most leave around 12 weeks and I would have kept the smallest of the kittens at least another two weeks to make sure it got the most nourishment. Responsible breeders also take the kittens to the vet for their first vaccinations and spay and neutering before they are allowed to leave with new owners.

Having said that, you've done nothing wrong. In fact, you've taken two beautiful kittens into your home. I hope your vet gave you some good advice. The bengal does look extremely tiny, so make sure it's well taken care of and give it plenty of nourishment. Hopefully, it is using the litter box and becoming great friends with your other kitty.

Good luck with the little one. Keep us informed.

Both of them are males, and I know that the father was only a quarter bengal so I suppose that explains the lack of papers. The breeder was definitely a back yard breeder and I believe the litter was accidental. The lady said that she needed the kitten to go because its teeth were hurting the mother so I thought I could provide a better home for it.

So far the two kittens are getting along fine, you can tell they're still warming up to eachother but I think they will eventually become close (:

I got the kitten for 150 and it shows almost all signs of being a bengal besides a few trivial things (from what I have been able to research) and I understand that the spotted pattern isn't desirable but I find it to be quite cute :D

Anyway, we have yet to go to the vet today due to some unexpected family stuff but I hope that my little man will grow.

I found that the Innova food is recommended here so I got the kitten 100% whole grain dry and the cat/kitten wet food and plan to mix them or put them both in the bowl separately.

I'd appreciate any advice or name suggestions for the little guy!

I'm thinking Tayo, Gizmo, Cheeto, and idk o.o Open to ideas hahah.

Can anyone give me a good idea of how small he is compared to other 7-8 week old bengals?

Thanks for the responsesame guys! I tried to ask the lady to keep it awhile longer but she didn't seem interested.

She also played with the kitten letting it bite her hands and claw them, I am currently trying to train it to not do this by simply discontinuing play when he does

That's a shame about the breeder. And yes, there can't be papers unless both parents are registered, that is actually the whole point of having papers, to prove that the kitten came from a carefully managed breeding program between pairs of registered cats.

I really would recommend going to the vet very soon, given your cat's very rough start, and extremely young age. He has a very weak immune system right now, and also hasn't received near as much socialization as a more properly raised cat would. But that's neither here nor there at this point.

I have to admit something too: everytime I hear someone refer to their cat as "it" it makes me cringe. Like the cat is an inanimate, sexless object or something. Anyway, maybe that's just me. Welcome, and I hope you are able to overcome this rough start that your kitten has had in life.

Ahh I totally didn't mean to say it! I always give people a hard time about saying it and I just typed it like 5000 times >.< Lol I'm sorry, he is basically my little brother but I like him more (:

And I plan to go to the vet tomorrow as I couldn't make it today. Any advice about his size compared to other kittens his age? How small is he (in reletivity)? And any name ideas?!

Thank you! (: I appreciate the response
