Hi, we are new to the breed. I've lived with Domestic cats most of my life and ragdolls and Siamese more recently. Currently we have a senior ragdoll/siamese mix as well as 2 dogs. We don't have a bengal yet...but are in the process of adopting a young male. We are very excited, but also recognize our inexperience and I am hoping to learn as much as I can before he joins us next week. Any advice is welcomed. I want to make his integration a positive experience for both him and our other animals.

Congratulations. Just know your new little guy is going to be pretty terrified as he's in new surroundings. Please make a safe room for him so he can get acclimated. There are many posts here about that, but it needs to be where you feed him, where his litter box is and toys. Let him have a couple of days to settle in with people and then you can slowly introduce him to the other pets. Hopefully, all will go well and you'll be one big happy family.

As for Bengals ... they are super active (hyper, I call them), very vocal and quite demanding. They want attention all the time. They are loving and faithful. Yours may or may not like to be held or may or may not like to snuggle on your lap. You just have to take what you can get. My bengal is a perpetual 2-year old that will never grow up. Just try and remember that. A bengal is not a cat who will run tp a dark corner and sleep for 20 hours and you only see him when he wants to eat.

So far so good. Everyone seems to just be ignoring each other. Our Bengal (Toby) is observing the others from a distance. Just checking things out. He's found a spot where he can observe everyone and feels secure so we will let him adjust. I will post pictures tomorrow once he's settled a little more. I don't want to stress him out too much. :)

Sounds like things are working out so far. Make sure you have some vertical space for your bengal as well. In fact, all cats like to be high up so they can view everything from above. Your older cat may not be interested in climbing a cat tree, but I know your bengal will. They love climbing. There are lot of great ideas out on the web, including hanging shelves on the wall so they can climb. Of course, some people go to a lot of trouble and build this cat maze high up. A simple cat tree will work just fine and you'll find your new arrival will love it.
