Hi everyone, my name is Tanja and I live in South Australia. We are going to be adding two bengals to our family in March, I am super excited and have just received pictures of our two little men. We are getting a brown and a silver, we decided on two so they have company for each other as our dog is not overly social and thought having one would just annoy him and the kitten would get bored and lonely and destructive. We have discussed names (Neko and Cinder) and are keeping it as a surprise for our two kids aged 6 and 8, another 9 weeks is a long time to deal with the never ending "when are the kittens coming?" Have been doing lots of research but any advice on what to buy and prepare would be greatly appreciated. Will be doing lots of reading on here to get some great advice. Look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome Congrats on your new babies, I bet your kids will go crazy!! I got to take my four to pick out our girl and they have been in love with her since Bengals are such a great match with kids energy levels, I would advise getting wand toys for the kids to play with the kittens. Believe it or not kids are great at keeping Bengal energy levels at bay and draining that excess!! Have you bought any toys or cat trees or anything of that nature yet?

Thank you for the welcomes I know I am going to love coming on here! I have bought a few toys, a couple on sticks, and a few others, would like to get the da bird and will do so after we come back from a much needed holiday (leaving tomorrow for 10 days ). Also going to have a tree custom made, he has been recommended by the breeder since he gives a 5 year structural guarantee on them and they seem very sturdy. There are other things we need, still seeking the right kitty litter boxes too, we had some large containers with our other cat (a Russian blue who we sadly lost about 2 months ago ) but these were just too large and took up far too much room. My kids know we will eventually get a kitten, they just have no idea that we have them selected and no idea that we are getting two, we had the intention of one but decided that they (the kittens) would need the company of another and our dog is not overly social. Look forward to having many chats on here!

Welcome to TBCF.

Reading your last post, I wouldn't try to skimp on litterbox size. I only have one Bengal. When we got him, we had 2 boxes - 1 covered Boodabox, 1 open, deep, corner box.
He looked so tiny in them to begin with, but now, only the larger, open box fits him when he poos. Quasar is just shy of 9 months old and weighs just over 11 lbs. He likes to sit up tall and hold the edge while he goes. He pees in the covered one and pees/poos in the open one now.

I can only imagine what trouble he might encounter with a smaller box.

We moved 5 days ago to a larger, 3-storey home and added 1 more covered box so as to have 1 on each floor. So far, Quasar has managed to find all 3 boxes but still only uses the open one for poos.

In summary, with bengal kitties, especially TWO of them, I would stick with larger boxes. Also, you need to have (minimum) 3 boxes for two cats.

Hi all, thank you for all your advice. We had two litter boxes for our last cat so would have gotten two as a minimum, will get three on your advice. To explain what we had before, it was a huge tub with a lid, my hubby cut a large hole so the cat could get in and out, it lessened the mess and any smell there may have been, we then put the tray inside this. It worked well but was so huge that it took up far too much space. Have been advised to get a large, deep tub rather than something with a lid but think will get the lidded one for inside and an open one for the cat run and then likely either one for upstairs (we live in a two storey place). I am just counting the weeks at this stage to when they arrive, I am likely worse than the kids lol!

I have a big tub one with high walls, Alex prefers that one.

If you want any info on good websites to buy toys etc just say, I have a little list in my bookmarks
