Hi everyone as you may know I have been wanting a Bengal kitten for a while. I found out sometime ago that my husband is getting me a new kitten for Christmas! He is due to be born next week and we already (or my husband) has the dposit down. I am very interested to say the least about how BB our ten month old girl will handle a new kitten. He will be coming home in 13 or so weeks I know that seems like a long timebut time flies. I want to do everything right with introducing them. I know BB is a little older and set in her ways and I dont want to make this an unpleasant experience for her. Does anyone have any ideas on how to introduce them other than the normal keeping them apart and sent trading? Oh by the way, I am getting either a male or female marble, I am so excited as I have wanted two since we got BB!!! Looking forward to some advice! Thanks in advance!

Venus was a little over a year old when we got Leonidas and I was pretty worried too. The first few days I didn't think they would ever get along but a week later she absolutely fine. She adores him now. I do think its a little harder when a female cat is older than the new one, but not impossible. Our previous male Bengal didn't care a bit when we introduced new animals to him.

Thats encouraging! Thank you! I am really worried as BB is very attached to us and the only safe room we have is either our master bedroom which is where we kept her or my sons room which is where she sleeps during the day! I dont know what to do about that yet. I am glad though that things worked out for you, we have introduced her to other dogs before and it took her about an hour to start play fighting with her so maybe she will be open with a new kitten as well. With this being a "surprise" and the deposit already put down I hope she has a male kitten, that is what I really want! Hopefully it works out, I want a marble so I can get a kitten out of her two marbles hopefully and I am keeping my fingers crossed she has a nice male kitten. Does anyone know if a male and female get along better as adults or does the same sex get along better?

When I picked up Willow I was saying we were thinking of getting another in a year. My breeder recommended getting a male as the 2nd kitten. I'm so jealous and hope you get a gorgeous little boy!!

me too!!! Sadly I am not going to get a kitten as soon as I thought. The litter that the breeder was expecting her marble kittens from were all still born so I have to wait for my little boy or find another breeder.Its been really sad and it hard waiting, I have been waiting for 10 months now to get a second one so I guess a little longer will not hurt

Oh no, that's really sad news! I feel for you on the waiting, I remember waiting 13 weeks for Willow was a killer but I'm having to wait a whole year for my next!! I'm sure you'll find a gorgeous little kitten soon!!

Thanks everyone!!! I am looking forward to our next kitten but after this I am not saying anything to anyone until the baby is here and well!!! I am so excitied and so are my children!!! We cant wait! I know how it is to wait so long we have been entertaining the idea of getting a new kitten since we got BB back in April so we have waited long enough I actually was planning on getting a kitten and starting to breed but after the ordeal with loosing the litter we were going to pick from I realized I couldnt hande that and with my children being so young I didnt want them to go through that either. So in the long run one tragedy probably saved us from more!There is a silver linning to everything I guess!
