Hello everyone, I was introduced to this site by my sister who has a Bengal kitten and I am in the process of doing some research to see if it would be a cat for me. I am new here and am excited to get some good feedback since I am new to this. I have one, white, med-long hair, indoor, cat now (Shrimp)..he is actually 16.5 pounds and 8 years old. My question is how well do Bengals get acclimated with older cats who are set in their ways to say the least?

Really its not the Bengal that you are going to have to worry about , honestly! How is Shrimp(cute name ) going to act to a wild little Bengal running around and in his bussiness? I am sure you know how Bengal kittens are since you have been around Safari and I hear he is a little bit of a handful ! I think a Bengal kitten that is raised and socialized properly will adjust to the situatuion perfectly but you have to think about your reigning king and how he will react! Is shrimp neutered?

Thanks guys! Yes, Shrimp is neutered. I have tried to put Safari/Shrimp together for a weekend but I think it was just long enough to stress them out. Safari wanted to play and Shrimp wanted to take his time to befriend the new house guest. He definitely had reservations. I wonder if things would have progressed into accepting another feline had they been giving more time to adjust. Its not as if they broke out into a fight, the only time Shrimp showed his dominant side was when Safari used his litter box. My main concern is that Shrimp is declawed and believe me I would never do this to another cat for the sake of furniture/curtains..etc. So bringing in a new kitty with no plans on declawing it, I worry about the new kitty hurting Shrimp even if they were just playing rough.

SAFARI AUNT- you should of never mentioned poor shrimp being declawed..people here are HIGHLY agaisnt it....IM too...but i know when you got him he was already de-clawed not by your choice.... but i would suggest to get one and eventually they will have to be friends...just favor shrimp more so he doesnt feel replaced....

Oh lord!!! This is already crazy and just the beginning! LOL!!!! I dont thing Shrimp being declawed will have to much to do with rough play unless he has all four declaw! If that is the case he still has teeth and he will still be dominant no matter what! He is the KING already so the kitten you being in is going to look to please him! There probably will be a little hissing a fighting but they will get used to eat other! Heads up as you I assume know you will have to get another litter box! If her is claiming it with Safari he will with S.J. too! S.J. ( Safari J.R.) BTW no one can judge you if you have a cat that was declawed before you got him!!!! If you didnt do it how can someone say anything! But who knows on here you never know! Are you thinking about getting another male or a female?

this lady on here her signature thing under her name is dogs have owners & cats have STAFF..... yeah i think all our cats pretty much rule us. my bf says that my cat has no rules or discipline what so ever... but hes the KING of the house so he doesnt have to

He will be ok and I think personally another male would probably do better and Shrimp will do fine with him!!! With him being declawed in his front I wouldnt worry to much about rough play or them fighting! When Max and BB my dog and Bengal get into rough play she NEVER uses her front claws she always lays on her back and waits on him to come close grabs him with her mouth and does this crazy rabbit kick things and beats the crap out of him so I wouldnt worry about that!!! I also wouldnt rush into getting a Bengal either I would take sis along with you in picking one out because she is going to be more level headed and she is going to have a higher standard, she has a pretty good looking bengal! If I were you not to make any bad comment towards you SafariMom I would learn from her one thing and wait until your kitten is a little older before bringing him/her home especially since you have another cat already!!! That is my two peices of advice take sis with you and wait until the kitten has two rounds of shots before bringing it home!! Oh and one more thing happy bengal hunting
