and he has settled in (almost) like he has always been here! He came with the name Ralph, but responds to everything, so we aren't sure whether that will stick. My husband likes it, but I don't think he seems like a Ralph. Maybe that is me being cautious about getting close since I was so close to Moss. He is absolutely beautiful and has a lovely temperament.

He has met Moon already. We weren't sure how long we would want it to take, but they can both open doors, and my three year old also helped with the introduction. Both were too fast for us, but it went well. They sat across the room from each other, and Ralph looked like he wanted go straight up to him (I don't think he is very knowledgeable about cat etiquette yet). Moon hissed and Ralph nicely backed away and sat near the wall. That happened quite a few times, then they started tailing each other around the house, following each other's paths almost exactly. We separated them over night but apparently they managed to get near each other because they were sleeping just a few feet apart under a bed this morning! It couldn't have gone better, really! They have been playing alongside each other if we get a toy out, but not together yet. They are still being cautious, but Moon is showing nice signs, such as squinting and laying with his tummy showing (basking in the sun), and Ralph has started to do the same.

One other thing is that Ralph was yowling constantly at the shelter, but has been fairly quiet here so far. He shouts for food when we are in the kitchen, made a strange almost owl-like sound for the best part of an hour at some point last night (I thought my son was dreaming and talking in his sleep), and has chirped at us when we talk to him. Oh! He also perfectly mimicked my sing-song voice when I called him at some point today! We're very happy it was this easy, but we are still supervising them as much as we can.

Here are a few pictures. See his huge tummy? We're getting him on a raw diet as soon as possible. He is a junk food junkie right now, but we have a STRICT ban on dry food in this house. I may be quickly editing them if I realise they are too big because I'm not sure how they uploaded. Sorry if you open the huge version!

Oh! And we did get his papers, and I have tracked down the breeder. We will soon be getting kitten photos, which is something I always wished I had for my other two!

They have touched noses at least twice today! I'm so happy. I keep catching them quietly sitting near each other; one time they were together on the wardrobe. Moon seems far more stimulated now, and is going in parts of the house he wasn't really exploring before, which is bound to be good for him. It must have been hard to live with a very poorly brother for so long.

I really hope I can get "Ralph" into better shape quickly. He has a flabby belly as if he has had kittens. I know personally how that feels. He is a good jumper, but I bet he would feel better if he got some of the extra weight off.

I agree, he doesn't exactly seem like a Ralph to me either. I don't think I have ever had a cat with a human name.

I just thought I would update with a picture of my two boys together. Moon is so happy to have a friend to run around and wrestle with. It had been a while since he could do any proper cat playing. This evening I found them together waiting for us to come back from getting our little boy to bed.
