Aww, how great that Kiwi now has a loving home. I'm appalled at what the breeder was planning - surely that breaks every code of conduct in the book.

Is it worth looking around at other options to fund surgery on the cataracts? If it's anything like humans, if they were treated reasonably early, then her sight could be restored but if they're left, it will deteriorate to complete blindness. Sometimes rescue charities will help fund operations or you may find a vet that's flexible about payments. I presume there wasn't any insurance in place that would cover it?
